This September, the Welsh Highland Railway's popular SuperPower weekend will become QuarryPower and restored Penrhyn Scrap line locos will be in action over the 40 miles of the F&WHR. There will also be the added attraction of the chance to see the locos in a convoy from Caernarfon to Porthmadog and onto the FR over the course of the weekend. The sight of a dozen locos crossing Britannia Bridge at sunset should be one to savour, as will. It's also hoped that the locos will also pay a visit to the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway. Plans are still being drawn up and more locos are likely to be added to the list of visitors over the coming weeks.

Barmouth Festival of Walking
Barmouth is the perfect location for the festival, as the less well-trodden mountains of southern Snowdonia offer a true wild wilderness, which is so rare in the UK these days. Walking off the beaten track is made much easier by the company of a guide with knowledge of the route, wildlife and landscape. If nothing else it takes the stress out of map reading. The grades are: A HARD - a walk that will have a number of areas that can place a demand on the physical and mental capability of the walker. There are a number of ascents/descents during the walk, the route at times will require careful navigation and foot placement. Steep ascents and declines, wet ground and distance contribute to the designation A. A new designation of "A+" has been used for even more challenging walks.
